Question : Is it permissible for the worshiper in the plane to pray sitting?
Answer: Shaykh 'Abd al-'Azeez ibn' Abd-Allaah
ibn Baaz said in this fatwa, in which he says:
With regard to the fact that a
traveler is praying sitting, there is nothing wrong with that. If he can not
pray, such as praying in the ship and the ship, if he is unable to perform it,
the argument in that is to say: " Fear Allaah as much as you can ."
If the prayer is delayed until it
comes down, there is nothing wrong with it if the time is wide, and this is all
obligatory. As for naafilah, it is not obligatory to accept the qiblah, whether
it is in the plane or the car or on the animal; because it is proven that the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) But it is mustahabb for him
to receive the qiblah at the time of Ihraam, and then complete his prayer to
his path, because it is proven from the hadeeth of Anas - may Allaah be pleased
with him - that indicates that [24] .
- If the plane enters the airspace of
the airport, whether it is Jeddah or other, let the prayer of the Prophet peace
and blessings be upon him when he enters the town: " O Lord of the Seven
Heavens and what I will do, and the Lord of the seven lands and what I do not
know, We ask you the best of this village and the best of its people, and we
seek refuge in you from its evil and the evil of its people and the evil of
what is in it " [25] .
There are two airports in Jeddah, one
for ordinary passengers and the other for Hajj and Umrah passengers. You may be
asked to get off one at a time without the other, and the violation leads to
huge complications, delays in procedures, And behind the bags, just beware of
this!
- It is customary to delay at the
airport for several hours, so do not be discouraged, but rather consider this
in the balance of good deeds, and have given this time all to God, let God
spend it how he wills, and do not waver from the Altvip and male and pray, and
raise you voice or anger or controversy. Do not forget to reassure your family
about the safety of your arrival, and the kindness of those around you, and
hampered them to wait, and helped the great and the weak, and be in the service
of all and need God Almighty in your need.
I ask Allaah to make it easier for
every Hajj and Umrah to travel, to accept it fully and to accept from us and
from you and from all other Muslims. He is the guardian of that and capable of
it.
